3d Carve Cut Depth Settings for large format 3d carves

I’ve been using the 3d features for awhile in easel - and it works great - but as ive started doing larger format carves, a lot of my pieces have vertical faces that are deeper than by finishing bit cut depth. Its only a problem when it’s a straight vertical face and the tool path is expecting to shave along the total height. Is there a setting somewhere that i can use to have the tool path address the highest z portion first before coming back and going lower?

said another way - 3d carve have vertical faces that are 2in tall. I am using a 1/4ball nose bit for finishing that has an overall length of 3in, but the cutting hieght is only 1.5in. So when the toolpath addresses the vertical face, the bottom 1.5in cuts but the top .5 in just scorches on the bit shaft.

any ideas?

Would something like this work better?

sweet! man i was working the google machine and could NOT find one with a 2in cut length - but i also can never find the mayo in the fridge. I’ll be ordering that sucker right now.

BUT my question still remains - talking to a fellow cnc worker here - he uses fusion and can configure the tool paths to do just as described above in fusion - might be a nice param to either add to the bit or the machine/cut settings so that tool pathing takes into account the cut depth
