I wanted to explain how and why easel imports depths. @MechanicalGoose
It's based off of 2 things. Grey scale (or color scale) 1-255 (I believe) and current material thickness setting.
So if you have you depth set at .50" and the svg shapes are full black, it will come in at material thickness.
If it's grey it will come in less than material thickness.
A good representation of this is the picture carving in easel topic I made. Inkscape converted my image into rough shades of grey. I set my material depth to .125" before importing and it pulled it in with progressive depths based off of the shades of grey.
So just change the svg line work color to grey instead of black. Problem solved.
