Discussions about the X-Carve 3D Carving Machine
Great machine there… I have been using a Versalaser engraving machine and a craftsman scroll saw. I specialise in wooden gift items and frames. After reviewing X Carve, I have decided this is the machine I want to complement the two. But as a pure novice with CNC routing, I need additional information
What design software is compatible with the machine or does it have its own software? I use CorelDraw, AutoCAD an Imax.
How clean are the finished products, especially extruded carved figures like human faces and the like?
Is there any technical support in Kenya or I would have to get support online?
What are the key challenges with this machine?
I would appreciate your support and reference - I have already configured mine and would be glad to place the order within the shortest time possible.
New to CNC
Interested in making something like this. Can X-carve do this, what programs would I need, and to throw another thing in there, I’m a mac user. Thanks for the info.
Hello,
I am very interested in the X-Carve, and it seems like a very powerful tool. I have a question regarding it’s power in cutting, however. I would like to use the quiet cut spindle that is standard with the X-Carve, as it is speed-controllable and smaller/lighter than previous versions. My question, however, is if the 24 volt spindle is able to cut through aluminum. I would be using it mostly in regards to cutting 1/4 inch thick aluminum plates, and need a machine that is strong enough to do this.
Thanks in advance,
Max
Hi, I’m new to the forum and still trying to figure things out. I currently make these monograms but looking for a faster way. Did you get a response to your question? Will the x carve cut these?
Hello All. Finally I got my X-carve assembled… Indeed made few attempts to carve… I did bought the Z-probe kit to Zero any of my project prior carving. Surprise, surprise, could not get the Z-probe to work. I do have limit switches. The z axe travel downward and got stuck on the main board. Indeed, read as much as I can on different comments on the ‘Forum’ could not find the response to my questions. However while cliking and search on Easel Machine set up under advance tab I finely got the ‘‘G-coding’’ and I notice all axes were at zero except the Z axes under machine set up at 7.0 inc… I do not know how to reset the Z axes to zero. Also, I do have a second point, I loaded one of the samples '‘Fleur de Lys’ is shows ok on my computer screen but the carving unit do make the carve up side down, is this usual??
Can the X-Carve do 3D router cutting? I need to make 3D reliefs, not flat pieces. Any comments would be great. Thanks, MIke

I’m not sure if I’m putting this in the right place or not but I have been having problems with the in-lay app. I use a 60 degree bit and the in-lay app to help create an in-lay. I have been practicing with a W, however for some reason the sizes never seem to fit each other. I tried to do a star earlier for an inlay but the size also came out wrong. Did anybody else experience this problem at first, and what was the fix?
Thanks!
New Guy Set up Question.
I’ve only seen the X Carve set up with the controller box on the left side. Are the cords long enough to put the control box on the right side or even underneath?
Hi, Mervin here, a new member of this 3d help family. Just discovered the X-carve machine very interesting. I would be highly pleased to learn if this machine works on any glass surface?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for sharing this post. Assignment Help
Hello everyone,
We just bought our X-carve and received it in 4 separate deliveries.
I wanted to share our experience so far with packaging, assembly instructions and process as well as to ask for helpful tips from you guys. Because it has been a bit frustrating and Xcarve team is unreachable. I hope you guys can provide some tips that will convince us to stick with xcarve because we are almost at the point to return all of this and order a shepeko instead because we are looking to get 2 cnc machines and we do not want to go through this with another xcarve.
1 - We started to unpack everything and started to look for an assembly manual. But none to be found. We then went online and found their assembly page. And ohhh god but their instructions are tricky to follow and definitely could use a rework. But I feel like including a printed manual is a basic must that I don’t quite understand why they wouldn’t include it. Specially since they took the time to include a printed thank you card. Toggling a $2k+ laptop right next to your work area is not ideal. At least a downloadable PDF.
2 - Packaging must be a nightmare for whoever is putting together this order because although most of the little bags are labeled, a lot of the parts that you need for the section you are working on are on completely different packaging. You spend more time looking for the correct bolts, nuts, washers and screws than you do assembling them. And god forbid any one of these little parts roll off your table and get lost because they do not include extras at all. I dropped 1 nut and 1 washer and just can find them, so guess what. I am now short 1 but and 1 washer to finish the assembly. Further more there is a complete bag of screws we never found in any of the packages. Luckily I happen to save nuts and screws from other builds so I was able to salvage and keep going.
3 - The instructions. Holy Jesus, these instructions are just so bad and difficult to coherently follow. We sort of gave up on them and searched on YouTube for people that have uploaded their process for assembly. We have put around 5-6 hours of assembly time into it and still have not finished it. We are at the point of putting together the electrical components. We are almost at the point of repackaging this and return it back to them. But that also seems to be a hell of a process lol.
Please help with any tips. Please tell us that this is the difficult part and that everything else is easier. I wish we would have looked more in depth prior to buying this because we are not happy campers right now. We have a smaller cnc and it took us about 2 hours to setup (including software) and we were carving in 2 hours. We bought this so we could work in larger pieces.
We even looked into buying the Xcarve Pro but with our experience so far, you can believe that they will not be getting 11k from us.
My first post here and I’m not sure I’m doing this correctly so apologies if this lands in the wrong place!
I’m thinking of buying a CNC machine but I’m in New Zealand, any users on here from AUS or NZ care to comment on the machine, support, parts etc.
Cheers
Steve
