My X axis stiffening mod is similar to what others have done, but slightly different. Here is what I did: I used three, 5" long, steel mending plates from Home Depot, one placed at each end and one in the center of the X axis MakerSlides. I had to sand the edge of each plate on my belt sander to provide a little more clearance for the V wheels. Next I attached each plate with two, 2" long, #10-32 machine screws, two 1-1/4" diameter fender washers and two 10-32 locking nuts. With my Dewalt 611 router at the center of the X axis, there is almost no twisting of the MakerSlides at all. I am delighted to say the least. Hope this helps. Here are some photos of the mod:
