I use small CNC machines for engraving serial number tags and VIN tags for the trailers we manufacture. I’ve used Planet CNC controllers and software for years but recently bought an AlienFox router and since it is a GRBL machine, I’m using Easel for the first time. I use a spring loaded diamond tip drag bit on aluminum plates but I’m getting very poor results so far. Easel seems to be focused on what the outside edge of a cut would look like by accounting for the width of the bit instead of following the lines of the letters exactly. I use ARSimp for font because it is a simple, single line font that I explode in draftsight and save as a DXF that I import.
