I was having that error when I tried to upload the latest Hex file. I never got it to work.
I had to compile and reload Grbl using the Arduino program.
Once I got the Grbl file to compile everything was good

I finally got it to upload.

I could NOT get the HEX file to work.
I could NOT get the Grbl Upload example to compile.
It turns out that the files need to be included for the Grbl Upload example to compile / load were not being added to the library automatically like they should. I manually added the grbl folder with all the necessary .h files to the Arduino Library folder on my PC (I found the path in the software’s settings)

Once I did that the Grbl Upload example compiled and uploaded correctly.

so i finally got my xcarve to my home garage and onto another computer. I tried to flash arduino and it said can’t open port. Does that sound like a burnt arduino to you?

Did you take the shield off? Try that first. Then try a new Arduino. Get an Uno R3. SHould be able to get a generic for $8 or so on Amazon. Just make sure it has the same USB port.

iF it works without the shield make sure you have the shield seated properly.

so i just got my new arduino today, trying to flash it with xloader, but xloader is not working, any experience with xloader freezing?

Did Inventables send you the Arduino? If so we load it.

If not you can use the Arduino IDE.

Turned out I fried the arduino. Got a new one and it’s running again. Thanks for the help.
