I am brand new to this , bought a foxalien 4040. and followed all the directions.
I have made a couple of things with light carving. So I though I’d try to carve deeper. Set my cut on easel to 5/8s inch, but the machine only cut maybe 3/16ths. I have tried all the zeroing methods. from the waste board to the bed surface, and of course the lower left corner of my work area. I am measuring
my work using calipers. and my work is .763 . any help would be greatly appreciated. I have even tried to set my cut lower with no effect. my collet is
tight. the bit is not sliding. I am using an 1/8th in up cut bit,
It sounds like you may need to change the steps per mm setting for the Z axis. Try jogging a certain distance and then measure to see if it is correct or not. To change a setting you type $$ into the command line. That will display the grbl settings.
GRBL_Settings_Pocket_Guide_Rev_B.pdf
Z axis steps per mm is $102.
And someone can close this thread. Thank you!
Trying to check and adjust cutting parameters, considering tools more suitable for deep engraving, and ensuring machine calibration is correct may help solve the issue of insufficient engraving depth on the FoxAlien 4040.
