Hey guys I did a quick search for 01 tool steel and didon’t find anyone who has attempted to cut this. I did see someone engrave on it but that is about it. I’m looking to get into cuttimg some different metals as I’ve gotten into knifemaking. Wondering if anyone has had success cutting out steel? My first knife will be made with 01 tool steel. So far my only option is an angle grinder and then a whole lot of file work. I’d much rather toss it on the xcarve for a few hours and cut it out that way.

That’s kind of what I figured. I was wondering if doing 0.01 depth per pass or something. I don’t mind if it’s a 4 hour carve. But I kind of figured it wouldn’t be a good idea. At this point I’d need a plasma cutter I guess

Seems like this video is private. I would like to know more about this, or modifying the 500mm X-carve to handle more ridgid materials. Thank you.
