Using a bungee or elastic to support the weight of the hose helps prevent the weight of the hose to introduce any twisting of the axis and makes for a better cut than if there is no support for the hose.

Yes, you will need 2 buckets and 1 lid and some bolts. Cut the lid to fit cyclone use 1 bucket to fit over the other attach hoses. This is what I have and it works phenomenall.
