I have the same problem. I found that turning off the 3D animation while carving stops that (look for the gear symbol at the top of the view window where you can set the fps, one of the options is to disable it completely)
The annoying thing is you have to turn it on for it to load a image of the cut file so you know you have the correct one. Then disable it before carving.

@AaronMatthews : AAAhhhh…: I’d tried turning the framerate down to 10, but not off entirely. I’ll give that a shot if it shows up again, thanks.

I still need to not use Chilipeppr for large cuts: It appears that Chrome has a 5 meg limit on storage, so any gcode larger than that crashes Chillpepper to the point I have to go in and clear out my local storage via the Chrome debug menu just to get it up and running again.
