Direct Drive Stock Z Axis

I’ve done some searching and couldn’t find anything on this, but I’m sure it has been discussed.

I am missing steps on my z axis (probably because I am pushing too hard during drilling operations) I was looking through some solves, like the TBD 15mm belt and various direct drive setups and it got me thinking, is there a reason not to try to fab up the stock z axis direct drive? I wanted to check before I put too much thought into this incase someone has walked before me. Seems like you would just have to make a couple of brackets and couple the motor shaft and the end of the rod.

Thanks!

I bought my X-Carve used. The previous owner did lots of upgrades, including a direct drive Z-axis. I’ve never had a problem with it. I looked back at the messages we exchanged and he mentioned he got parts from “MFX”. I couldn’t find them while googling. I’ll try to get hold of him to see if I can get more info.

I made one a while back, this is not for an Xcarve however.
