This explains it pretty well. The two reasons to zip things up are…
- you would like to keep a collection of things together and not lose one of them so you put them all together in a zip.
- you have a file that is very large and takes a long time to download or takes up too much room on your usb drive and so you compress its size with zip.
For the most part, I don’t zip things because the USBs are so big anymore and because the time spent unzipping something takes more time than the time savings of downloading smaller files.
