Dust Collector Questions

I found that my Shop-vac doesn’t get as hot as quickly now that I use a Router Speed Control with it… I dial it to about 30% speed, and it collects the super fine powder dust (which is the stuff that makes an area the messiest, because it will drift like smoke). I still clean up bigger dust and chips after the job, but keeping the power-fine stuff sucked up while operating made all the difference for working indoors.
*My X-carve does operate inside an enclosure, but the powder-fine stuff still got out before I used this setup.

Can you explain a bit more about Router Speed Control? It sound like that, combined with an inexpensive Shop-vac, might be a good solution for me.

Harbor Freight sells them for about $20.
It’s good for running a Shop-vac at a lower speed… it’s good for collecting the baby-powder fine dust… at lower speeds, it will run cool and get the fine powder.
