Tutorial on this
Great reply. Really helps hit home my point about choosing the right toolpath.
If you only do the finish maching toolpath w/ 1/8" and not a rouging + finish, you will be cutting 0.5 and 0.7 into the material with the one path.
Watch the status bar at the bottom when the mouse moves over the cut model. It shows the Z depth from the surface of the material.
You need to use 1/8 for both roughing (which takes layers out at the step-down) and also a second finish toolpath.
That being said. I really donât recommend using the 3d roughing and finishing toolpaths for the bevels on the pocketsâŚ
Finishing the outside with a hand-router is a more time efficient option. https://www.amazon.com/Yonico-13903-Degree-Chamfer-Edging/dp/B00TQ4X7GU
If you want to use the xcarve to do that, consider the moulding toolpath
No. It doesnât make sense to me. I donât do 3D design for a living like you, so I might not be thinking spatially the way your brain does.
Maybe you can ask @DouglasStevens to share the CRV and you can make some screen shots or a video.
Are there any finished pictures of this?
Turned out really niceâŚ
