o you have it set to start at the left corner closest you on the X-Carve, and the bit set to bed level? When you start the carve, are you setting the bit at the top of your stock?

If I am looking at this right, that could cause it.

as a newbie i struggled. but understod and got it fixed after reading this:

That solved the issue - thanks Dan! Now I have to move on to resolving some issues that came up during the carve (probably due to a waste board that’s not level, and usage of a less-than-desirable end mill, but that’s a topic for another section of the forum).
