Aaron - not sure if it is too late in your build but have you looked at these?:
You’ve got a great machine going there and since I have switched to this type of z-axis, the results are night and day. There are several models and I recommend the “fast travel” type.
Also, for chip clearing, this is less than $15 and I hardly ever have to use WD-40 anymore. Just point it down at your bit and the chips will blow away:
