Has anyone made a business out of the X-Carve?

Just curious, what are you using for your stock here? Is that just glued up smaller boards? It looks like it, from the joints that can be seen there between the planks. What kind of wood is that? Those plaques all look fantastic, by the way.

This looks amazing. How did you get the black in the writing? I tried painting my signs and then sanding over the top but the paint would leech into the grain.

You have to seal 'em first. Some guys use shellac with great success, I usually use lacquer. Really, as long as it will seal the wood, it will work. Then you just paint the top, and sand any mess away. :smile:

I just use about anything i got that is clear such as dollar store clear, sanding sealer stuff like that. But if i am in a hurry i use this
good coverage dries fast

Im making about 20$ a running hr with the Xcarve on wooden signs, here’s a couple recent ones. I have zero wood working experience prior to this. Im pretty happy.
