HDPE-Clean up - How to? First Project Tutorial

XCARVE PRO - XCARVE 60 VCARVE BIT (30655-02 V-Carve bit ), test on first easel project.

Problem: The V carve using EASEL ( I chose the one indicated in the tutorial) and it didn’t clean out the cut very well. Did two passes but still the material you see is attached. New everything bits, X-Carve Pro …

First cut ever, not sure what to do I hope this isn’t normal - the clean up time is going to be a bunch :frowning: - Advice? Thanks!

I guess I would suggest two things, Get a bit that is designed for plastics. Play with your depth of cut and feed rate. My experience with HDPE is the cut will be fuzzy at the top.

Get a single flute, down cut bit. Slow your RPMs. Do a finishing pass.

Hope this helps.

I cut some hdpe the other day for someone.
Not v bit carving but I figure since it’s hdpe related I’ll leave the feeds and speeds I had success with here

Zero flute 1/4" 75ipm 20in/min plunge .12dpp
3.5 speed on Makita router - onefinity journey man

Definitely do less depth per pass or slow down speed theres alot of chatter there

I didn’t notice much chatter marks. Are u mistaking the mess from the double sided tape?

Idk if its residue or residual hdpe but the lines don’t look crisp on OP pics. Something isnt right with those speeds and feeds. A proper bit would help eliminate the melted plastic look as well as dust collection.

I hope you didn’t think I meant yours. Yours looks solid :+1::+1:
