Help with keeping the cutter from lifting so much

most of my programs spend more time retracting and moving then cutting. how do i stop this?

To the right of “Project”, you will see “Machine Settings”. Click that and then click “General Settings” The Safety Height is the distance the bit will rise above the material during the cutting. The “Origin Safety Height” is the distance that the bit will stay above the surface for going to the first cut and returning home. This distance is critical for keeping the bit above clamps! You don’t want it running into those! I have in most instances, used .030 for the safety height. The higher it goes the longer it takes to carve! Again, just make sure your Origin Safety Height will clear any obstacles! You may also want to increase your Plunge Rate in cut settings.
