How to 'uncombine"

I see that this has been a topic before, but of course I can find no way to open those previous topics so as to see if anyone answered this problem (Hint, Inventables, make it easier to read old topics… simply clicking on the topic WILL NOT open it), so I am posting it again.

I spent the last four hours using all of the work-arounds to make what on the surface is a simple Christmas ornament. It required combining dozens of separate elements. Now that it is designed, I did a few test carves. Despite the alleged ability to make carves accurate within 1,000th of an inch, clearly my machine is not that accurate. As such the finer details get plowed out. As such, I want to enlarge the image so that it will not eliminate the finer details. In this case it is a Highland Games competitor throwing a hammer. The shaft of the hammer gets cut out, and so I want to enlarge to make that shaft larger in hopes of keeping the bit from destroying it.

I ‘combined’ the image elements so that I could move it around. Now the ability to ‘uncombine’ is GONE - VANISHED - DISSAPEARED. As such, and attempt to enlarge the figure in the center is impossible (at least for a newbie like me). Can someone tell me how to get access to the image, either by uncombining the project’s elements, or through some other method?? I do not have another 4 hours to design this simple thing.

Did you try the exploder apps in the app tab? I also don’t think any cnc under 10000 dollars is capable of accuracy to 1/1000".

Xploder app - Easel / Apps - Inventables Community Forum

There is also the shape exploder app there too.

Martin,

Thank you. No, I hadn’t thought of the ‘Exploder’ app. Sounded like a perfect solution to an obvious glitch in Easel.

I just tried it, but it does not appear to do anything. The image inside the ball remains attached to the ball itself.

I read the attached link that you sent. The app is not doing what is explained in the conversation.

(and I agree about accuracy. it wasn’t I that made the claim that the X-Carve PRO is that accurate… Caveat emptor, I suppose.

There are 2 similar apps. Shape exploder and Xploder
Try both

Will do Seth, thanks. I’ll report back how it goes.

all my best,

Joe
