Is there a way to avoid this

Making pockets and when the carve is done the bit raises at one corner. See attached picture.

Anyway to avoid this from happening?

Thanks!

the most simple way is to use a program that uses lead-in and lead-out to do the toolpaths, (easel does not offer this function)

That said, yours looks really bad, as if you lost steps at some point in the carve. a small indention is usually there, but this looks like 4-8 times as bad as when I do them… you may want to check belt tension and v-wheel adjustment if this is an x-carve…

Along with what @SethCNC mentioned, make sure that your feeds/speeds are correct for the material and machine rigidity.

By any chance is your whole carve complete when this happens?

One thing that Easel does is to move straight line from the last carve point back to the origin. In some cases this will gouge the workpiece. The control to protect against this is in MACHINE=>GENERAL SETTINGS where you control ORIGIN SAFETY HEIGHT. Make sure that this is higher than the thickest part of your workpiece.

I do not believe that is the issue here. The Safety Height settings are for retracting a specified amount above the Work Zero for moves not involving milling operations. The bit will always retract after a carve has been completed even if the carve ends at the (0, 0) location. Even if the Origin Safety Height were zero in that case the bit would still retract to the top of the work surface.

The issue the OP is expressing appears to be the corner that shows a little bit of dogbone effect. Either something is loose, or it could be feed/speed related.
