Is there a way to cut the outline of the sign on the rough pass?

I’m making a circular sign and every time I select a two stage cut it changes the cut on the profile of the entire sign to the detail pass. I am using a v-bit to do my detailed cut, however I don’t want it to cut the sign out of the wood because I want my sign to have straight edges. Is there a way to select a portion of the image and designate a bit for that particular cut in the basic version of Easel?

You can do that in 2 different files. Use 1 file to do your detail cutting and another file to do your rough cut. Then select the file you want to cut first. I don’t know how to put a picture up to show you what i meen but maybe someone else will.

Thank you, that’s what I was planning on doing. I’m pretty new to the easel software though so I wasn’t sure if there was a way to do it without multiple files. Is that a feature of the premium software or something?

Down at the bottom of the easel page where it shows you file just click on the box to the right and you can start a new file. Copy and paste your first file into the second file and take out or cover up what you need to. You can make as many as you want to. You can put portions in each one and if you want to use a seperate bit for each file you can do that.

Being fairly new myself, what I found extremely helpful was to hit up YouTube and get some higher education lol. Paw Paw’s workshop is great! Be careful though, you could end up watching and learning for longer than intended. A lot of videos will cover many questions that you have and if not this forum will for sure. Just search out your questions and there is usually a feed that has covered it.
Good Luck!

Duplicated my piece… 1/4 rough in bit, 60° carve bit, and 1/8 to cut it out of the wood. Thank you for the help. This is only my second sign so far!
