This summer I will start knife making once more due to many request. This time around things will be quite a bit different than years before now that I have the xcarve. So I decided the laser needed to be included in the mix. I still need to purchase a variable power supply to get the correct volts and amps for electro etching. The old way was to coat the metal then scratch the paint away to remove coating to make the image then use salt water and a power supply to etch away the metal in the image. I was limited in what I could do in this fashion but now with the laser I can ablate the coating away to make more complex images witch gives me more options. I got a little carried away on this test and undercut the coating when etching.
