3 coats of 3x poly urethane on entire board before ANY CUTTING, cutout shape, place in jig for engraving, then my daughter paints with acrylic and wipes over it with damp rag. And that was with 1/4" x 6" x 4’ oak project board from lowes.

if i ran my z axis at 160ipm, it would lose so many steps, it would end up digging its way to China.

Photocarve pro for photo, texture on frame done with vcarve pro texture feature.
Thanks, I’ve tried a grey scale to stl conversion before and the results weren’t nearly as good.
