Used 4 different woods (cherry, alder, maple for the circle, and red oak for the inlay). Designed in Aspire, sent to UGS.
This was the first inlay project I have attempted, and thought it turned out very well (minus a couple small gaps, otherwise it was almost a perfect fit). It’s approximately 16" in diameter.
I used the inlay feature in Aspire. I need to try it in Easel next to see which one turns out better though!
Tarry - next time try the “v-carve inlay procedure” which is different from the inlay feature. It allows for perfect, gap free fit. It is described here: http://www.vectric.com/support/training-material/bonus/vinlay.html
The detail you can achieve is astounding.
