Limit Switch Sequence

Can someone provide a thorough description of the sequence a machine using an X-Controller goes through when homing? I am using Kevin Pattersons hall effect sensors as limit switches and the X & Z axis seem to be working. I see the Y limit trip, but the homing sequence does not appear to back off and seek like the other two axis and the software never completes the sequence. I have verified the wiring several times.

  1. What should the voltage between the Y limit sensor line and ground be?
  2. Any thoughts on tests I can do?

When I first installed hall effect limit switches I had to increase to pullback setting in grbl to allow the switch to go back to neutral state.

Increase the $27 setting (homing pull-off, mm) until the switch resets and completes the action.
