Mustang sign

Love it. On my recent sort of similar project. I did two coats of the stain/poly one step minwax can.
Sanding between coats. Then brush paint black letters. Then sand excess. My issue was sanding the excess really took off the stain coat as well.
Do you think my black painted letters will look messed up if i put another coat of the stain over the whole thing? Just want to bring out the grain and darken wood a bit more

I would cut a test piece with something like “Zach is a wonder wizard” or some such B.S. and paint it in like in your photo above (Nice BTW) the do a test run on that.

I dont think you will have too much trouble going over the black but it could possibly dull the “blackness” a bit. You are the final judge of your efforts, that’s what the test piece is for.

BRILLIANT, GOOD SIR!

You kinda need sunglasses with that bright color…

Looks terrific! I’ve only tried the spray paint and sanding technique, but the syringe with oil paint looks beautiful. What kind of wood is it? And what oil/shellac/polyurethane/etc did you use for the finish?

And, lots of love.

Good work Phil.

Thanks. Looks great. I’ve never worked with shellac, will have to try it.

The sign in red oak looks amazing Phil. Very professional.

Man that is a beautiful sign! The oak really shines.

Would you mind if I used the .png, or would you be willing to share a vector? My friends just got a Mustang last week, I would love to make them a smaller sign as a gift.
