Negative image (not sure what to call it)

I am trying to leave the text raised and the space around it to be carved out. I did it once by accident and now I can’t figure it out. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Set text to zero depth
  • Place a rectangle covering the text, set this to your desired depth
