New to CNC looking to make a shaped cutting board

Yeah I mostly use my other big machine running mach3 and not grbl

but yeah understand what you are saying

Oh course with my proximity limit/homing switches I still enter different coordinates after I home the machine instead of using like a g55 etc work offset

and if you loose steps all that is needed is to re home the machine and enter coordinates and your right back where you started.

do you have home switches on your other cnc machine?

yeah pretty accurate for cnc router purposes doing it the bit in a hole way I am not going to lie I have done it on more than 1 occasion

No switches of any kind. But I do wear a helmet.

HAHA safety squints engaged!!

@Earwigger

you should get some switches though alot more possibilities with those bad boys

so what kinda machine do you have?

When I do two sided milling, I use the pin method…like in this video:

oh yeah pin method works great to I should include that in the video for sure

methods:

through cut
material flip with corner stop
material flip with pins

Building a flip jig is cool to

1000mm x-carve like machine. I use c beam for x, custom x plates, custom z axis, etc. Barely recognizable. (need pics)

And a similar 500x700mm machine with custom everything plus mist coolant for metal milling. Both machines still use makerslide for the Y axes. (Pic attached)

I switched both to Makita routers - I love them. I used to have a giant Hitachi on my larger machine, but it was unnecessary and I never used 1/2" bits.

@Earwigger

oh nice yeah I like those smaller machines for small work

you ever thought about upgrading to a spindle? I am really starting to hate these routers

I just have issues dialing in rpm so i can get the right chip loads on tools so I get good tool life and cut finish

I like the mister system where did you buy that? I need to get one for my big machine does it require a large air compressor to run?

If I was doing more than one two sider - THIS is definately how I would do it. I built jigs for engraving 300 medallions and it was a life saver. Well worth the initial effort.

oh very nice i feel you saves alot of time for sure

sweet man I like it I am glad it worked out for you!!
