Started building my work bench today. 2x4 frame, and 3/4" MDF top. Found a peice of acrylic laying around, so I used it to build a shield to keep me from getting covered in dust while sitting next to the machine on my laptop. Still need to mount the electronics under the desk area and apply some paint. I also built the wasteboard out of 3/4" MDF as well. I used T-Track from amazon to hold down my materials. Saved $200 not ordering the wasteboard, and have spend just over $100 on wood, screws and t-track. Still have $100 left over for material.
