Brand new to CNC. In the last week, I bought Genmitsu 4030V2 +Bought Easel Pro. Having basic issues, can’t home consistently, alarms. I was expecting machine home to be left front. Didn’t understand concept of setting work zero. Got past that. Sain smart support sent g codes settings, made changes and was able to carve simple figure. I set z probe as well. Made new drawing and exported .nc file. Tried to carve via Easel, but homing issues, hard limits happening again, bending limits. Same with UGS and OpenbuildControl. Should I use only one control software and not try to carve with Easel? Use only Candle? There is no pick for machines except other in Easel. Is my issues with settings and different control software? Ready to put 4030 back in the box literally and quit. Appreciate help. I know its a learning experience, but if I can’t consistently jog without alarms, I’m done. Thank you.
Did Sainsmart send you the GRBL settings and did you change them? When you set up easel, you should see a Sainsmart option. I’d try that and then change the needed settings. You can do this using easel or UGS. You type $$ in the command line and it should show what you are set at.
There is a good learning curve to all of this, but it’s worth the effort to persevere.

Sainsmart Genmitsu PROVerXL 4030 Grbl Default Settings
If there isn’t a Sainsmart…try Genmitsu.
If you have UGS, you can generate Gcode in Easel and save it to a memory stick and load it into UGS. I run my x carve on UGS, as it is what I’m familiar with Although I am learning about Easel in this forum by trying things.
Read through the GRBL link to see what each setting does or doesn’t do.
Interesting, I set it up machine before I upgraded to pro and didn’t see that. I did get the settings from Sainsmart support and updated in Candle as was instructed. Does moving to different control software cause these issues? Do most people carve with Easel? I like the user-friendly steps it asks about prepping for the carve. I’m not a very patient guy, retired from high tech, but hardware based. When it seemed to be working the one time after updating settins, I tried in UGS or Openbuild to determine the size and it alarmed all over the place. Also, why are soft limits disabled?
When I tried to home in Easel, it said homing was not enabled.
It is set to 1 to enable homing
Those defaults are for the 4030v1 and from what I was provided, are much different.
If it is set to home, then it will be expecting to move toward the switches. If it is going in an opposite direction, that is changed in the settings too. Use the same table as $2
Easel set up will ask if it works and if it goes in the proper direction.
There wasn’t a V2, so that is what I linked.
no problem, thank you.
For the record, I use the x controller on my x carve but also have a 3018 with candle that I set up in Easel. I also built a C beam machine and use the X controller on it.
This is what I was sent for the V2

A lot of those settings deal with size of machine and speeds. It would be worth it to again…I know I’m harping here…but that GRBL link describes what each one does pretty clearly and may help you to find the issue.
No problem, I get frustrated really quickly. I’ll give it a shot. Just trying to eliminate some mines, like conflicting software control.
I did move the machine home to the front left. A few test cuts worked, but I found that using OpenBuild Control to run the cutting was the least confusing for me. I couldn’t get Easel Pro to run the Z probe routing, but it worked fine in OBC.
This is what I used before upgrading my 4030 V2 with 6060 V2 extension. I have EASEL Pro.

Philip, I am also new and have some issues with the setup. How did you get the Home to be the lower left? When i home, currently it goes to the back right corner.
Any tips and tricks are appreciated.
Go back and read the thread as it addresses the grbl settings and how to change them.
