Newbie question - is it possible to cut the lines inside an image a quarter inch depth

ive been successful cutting the outlines and then using handtools to fill in the details in the body of the cut. Is it possible to use easle pro to route out some of the highlights of the pieces? for example, im cutting a marines logo, the image has lots of detail inside the body, i can cut the outline easily. is the ‘clear out a pocket’ cut setting smart enough to pull this off? I’ve tried this and every grbl file i create shows nothing when i import into openbuild control, so theres nothing to cut obviously. any guidance is appreciated.

I guess I’d say you can create two separate entities/ objects and change the depth of each to what you need.

thank you for replying to my post. Your strategy is what I thought as well. As mentioned in easel, i did just that. the board is defined as .5 inch and I set the cut to .25 and in easel it shows the cut path so I figured good to go. i download the grbl and I do the actual cutting in openbuild control. this is the strange part, in openbuild control, i open the grbl file and nothing shows up. this is the part thats really confusing.

Maybe consider using UGS. I haven’t had any problem with easel gcode in that software.

ill check it out, thnaks

I was turned on to Gsender by Garrett Frome a couple of years ago. I’m glad that I made the change. Had been using UGS for about 4 years but Gsender is much more user friendly.

I found the issue was the bit I was using ‘1/4’ was too big for the cut I chose, therefore nothing was rendered in Easel. when i changed to ‘1/8’, it showed up and rendered. user error!.
