Only one channel working on x controller

So I got an x controller and I wired two nema 32 steppers into it that had different wire colors than the wire colors on the original motors. I also wired in one original motor. The original motor spins but when I tried the other two they made a noise like they wanted to spin but then didn’t. Now they don’t do anything at all. I moved the wiring from the original motor from the z axis to the x axis and it won’t spin but if I move it back to the z it still works.

Is there some way I tripped something that’s specific to the channels?

I only wired one motor to the y axis in the first channel. If I plug the original motor into the second y channel it still works. So it really seems like I did something to the x axis and first y axis channels.
