Ortur laser on xcarve

Has anyone mounted an Ortur laser to their xcarve? Any feedback if so?

Working out the wiring now, the original back plate flipped sideways makes a good mount.

Were you able to get the Ortur working? I have a LU2-4 arriving today, and I’m also trying to figure out the wiring.

I smoked my controller trying this. I replaced with an openbuilds controller- but haven’t reconnected the laser yet. Let me know if you figure it out as I would still like to utilize this.

Well that’s reassuring! I’ll let you know.

I got it working! I’m using the GShield/Arduino (2015 XCarve 1000), not the XController, so ymmv.

From the Ortur cable to the Power Supply interface:

  • White/Signal to Spindle Logic (PWM).
  • Yellow/Ground to Spindle Gnd.
  • Red/DC Positive to Spindle S+
  • Black/DC Negative to Spindle S-
  • Spindle Control switch to Auto

I flashed Grbl 1.1h on my Arduino, and then in Easel I had to change $32 in Machine Settings to 1. I use my spindle control to turn the router on off too, so to switch between router and laser, I need to set $32=0 or 1.

I 3d printed some mounts and an exhaust shoe. I’m still playing with that, but ideally I’ll use my little paint booth vent system to suck the fumes out of the window. Hopefully there is enough airflow to act sort of like an air assist and capture a majority of the fumes.
