Pricing a cnc related but non cnc job

Customer of mine wants me to help him with some cnc setups but no cnc.
He offered to pay/hire me for the setups but I’m just not sure what to charge.
I have already spent 10-15 hrs helping him with cnc speeds and feeds variables and new vfd installation and programming setup but I didn’t ask him to pay.
Any advice?

Whatever you charge, go hourly. Never work for flat rate. Make it clear that payment is expected per day or week. It depends on relation to person. I charge less for family and coworkers than referrals or the random customer. I’d say $20/hr is a fair price for a knowledgeable technician.

I cannot claim to be knowledgeable. But my knowledge is definitely higher than his.
