Looks like you need to focus your lens better. We found that a distance of 3" from the heat sink’s face to the material is best for raster engraving photos.
Make sure you have your laser safety glasses on. First go above the 3" distance so the laser goes out of focus. The laser’s beam will be a rectangular shape. Loosen the screw in the front of your heat sink and rotate the module so the longest side of the beam is parallel with the engraving angle you plan on using in PEP5. One of the 45D angles is best. Then tighten the screw back down to secure the module in the heat sink.
Move the Z axis back down to the 3" distance. We use a black anodized piece of aluminum to focus on. It will not reflect the beam so it’s easier to see when the focal point is the smallest with your laser safety glasses on.
After rotating your lens and focusing to the smallest spot, it’s best to secure the lens with some hot melt glue between the lens thread and the laser’s module/heat sink so it does not move when engraving.
After focusing the lens, it’s very important you maintain this precise 3" distance from your material to get consistent successful results.
