I am not a cabinet maker, so my opinion will likely have little impact. That said, I spent a lot of time doing math and FORCING the cabinetmaker software to do what I wanted while making the cabinets for the shop. basic side mounted slides are MUCH cheaper than BLUM slides, so for me this was a no-brainer… but they require a 1" difference between drawer and carcass - NOT the same as BLUM hardware. I spent/wasted a LOT OF time on these builds trying to override the settings in cabinetmaker to make it all work.
trial-and error, many mistakes (operator), but eventually, I got there. The cabinets eventually turned out great. I now have a full set of cabinets under my 6’ x 6’ X-Carve Pro CNC bench (said it before, I’ll say it again: if Inventables offered a bench with cabinets, I’d have bought it. Took me almost a year to design and make the bench and cabinets. any $$$ saves was eaten up in time lost.
Anyway, the cabinets eventually came out GREAT and solved a lot of storage problems - even if I did have to grab my old 1898 Stanly hand plane to modify cuts that could not be made correctly with my machine/software
A cabinetmaker is designing a set of workshop cabinets and wants to use side mount slides instead of undermount slides to reduce costs. The current software lacks support for side mount slides, requiring the user to manually adjust the plans and calculate dimensions. With this feature, the user could:
Select side mount slides from a hardware library within the software.
Automatically generate accurate plans with the correct clearances and drilling patterns.
Save both time and money while maintaining project quality.
