USB connection fickle

Hi, recently my USB cable connecting my laptop to the controller is spotty at the controller input. I have to wiggle the USB cable to the right angle for minutes until the connection is established with easel. It’s reminiscent of the Nintendo cartridge issue.

Before I try buying a new cable has anyone else had this issue? Is there something loose I should tighten on the inside of the controller box?

You could bypass the front plate USB-port all together and connect directly to the PCB (Micro-USB port)
If you are handy exchanging the front plate USB-port may not be a daunting task.
