Howdy……anyone out there have a file for a waste board with dovetail slots cut every 4 inches. I have a Xcarve 1000. Thanks
How about you draw a straight line in easel and copy and paste it. Then cut “on the line” . A dovetail in wood needs a straight cut first and then follow a up with the dove tail bit. The straight bit clears out the bulk leaving the dovetail to do its thing with less work.
Use the pen tool to draw the line. Then click on Edit to copy and Edit to Paste. Then use the edit tool to align the ends and also the spacing.
once you have the lines you “select all” and you’ll get the edit functions with all the lines highlighted. Try them and see what they do. You can undo them too.
You can enter the X value to reposition the cut lines to exact numbers if you need to.
Give a person a file…they have a file… Teach a person to make a file, they can make files, or something like that …:-).
Well said!
But I wanted a fish.
PS @NeilFerreri1 Niel, how can I ever thank you for walking me through the steps for inlays.
Just remember when you use the dovetail bit set it to full depth per pass!
If you have your slots at 1/2" deep and leave you pass per pass at .1" you will not have a dovetail slot!!
Watch a video on PawPaws workshop. He makes what you need and shows a couple of ways to design the file.
