Wasteboard hell

You’re right. I checked the level of the front X axis Makerslide and at the right hand side, it’s perfect but on the left it’s out of square causing the spindle to tilt forward. I’ll sort that out after breakfast.

EDIT: Adjusted the X axis Makerslide so it’s all square. Went to run the test and found that the Y axis homing isn’t working. If it was the switch, it would be a 5 minute job but it’s the wire that’s O/C. A job for tonight, today I’m going to do some gardening instead.

Where did you get the rails for your modification?
also I would like to know how you set up the Z Axis
I watched some videos but nothing shows that.
Looks very nice.

Why didnt you just clamp the wasteboard and run a drill hole file with properly spaced holes? At our shop we just drywall screw our wood to the wasteboard on our 5’x10’ shopbot. On my new xcarve ill be building a simple clamping jig to hold my material down on the main x and y start requiring only the opposite corner to be secured.

for any other brits out there - t track and clamps can be found in the uk at either rutlands
http://www.rutlands.co.uk/pp+woodworking-power-tool-accessories-jig-making-t-tracks+c02101
or try axminster tools. others do them but i tend to use rutlands most of the time.
Screwfix do 6mm inserts in packs of 50 which are pretty cheap and very good quality.
Another great site for screws, nuts and shim washers is modelfixings.co.uk

Waste board always, with or without t slot, just screw to it and replace as needed
