ever since I’ve had the x-carve hooked up to the pc i occasionally get the error “watch dog violation” and the pc has to shut down, usually while in the process of a carve. anyone else get this problem?

FWIW, I think those are actually different. A watchdog violation would imply that there is an operation that got stuck, and a “watchdog timer”, detecting this situation, shut down your PC. GPFs mostly deal with memory errors, and BSODs are really the result of any such problem.
But having said that, I’m guessing it’d be your USB driver that has the watchdog. You might be able to find newer drivers online, and see if that fixes the problem.
