Weathered/Distressed Signs

Figured I would post some projects I have done over the last few months. The weathered and distressed look has been really popular lately, so I thought these might inspire a few ideas for others.

I appreciate that! A little light sanding is all it requires. Don’t go too long in one spot and it’s pretty simple.

Another method is dry brushing the paint on.

Lokks like a great job. I just finished up a black and gray sign doing the same thing. Keep up the good work.

I spray paint the base, carve the design, brush with acrylic, then sand the excess acrylic off which ends up causing the distressed look. Sometimes I have to go back and add a little paint to spots where I took too much off, but that is a simple fix.

On the Christmas signs, I used two layers of spray paint for the base. It’s kind of hard to tell from the pictures. I sprayed white first, and then I sprayed either red or green on top of the white.
