I use a spring loaded diamond drag bit for all of my acrylic engraving. I think it cost about $30 on eBay. I’ve been using the same bit for about 2.5 years and it just keeps cutting. The nice thing about the drag but is you don’t even turn the router on, it’s nice and quiet.

This is like the one I use. The price is higher now. I use .375” thick cast acrylic bought on Amazon. I know some cut on the back of the acrylic but I’ve always cut the front side and have had zero issues.
