yes. I was planning on it. I had good luck with my nuka cola cap. spray shellac then acryllic paints.
I think I’m going to start with a black base and then do some grey and brown dry-brushing.

Dry brushing? Can you post a video of your technique?
Literally just stained it and polyurethaned it.

sure. when I get to painting, I’ll do that.
put some paint on a brown paper bag. take a small bit on the tip of the brush, and wipe it back and forth so that only a bit is left on there. almost like how a woman uses cover-up on their cheeks with a large brush. you’re not trying to go for coverage with this technique, just highlights. dry-brushing is a technique for layering colors and building depth.

I use 2 old cell phones. Downloaded an app called Alfred. One phone is the camera and the other phone is the monitor. I can watch the machine from the deck. Might be worth a try if you have old cell phones.
