Has anyone tried or looked into replacing the belt drive with a leadscrew or rack and pinion drive for more reliability?
I think there had been mention of a rack and pinion system on here somewhere. It looks like an awesome upgrade, I would possibly do it in the future, not that I find it necessary, more just because it would be cool!

I’m really more interested in converting the belt drive to lead screw simply for the fact that I don’t have to lock the motors for a bit change. The machine just doesn’t move unless it happened electronically. Plus I don’t have to worry about correct tension, etc.
Nice, there are definitely a lot of CNCs out there with setups like that. The only draw back I’ve heard of with a lead screw system is backlash, reducing your accuracy. But other than that it could be a great system!
