Y and X Axis Move easily when powered up

I remember when I first purchased my X-Carve it would take a bit of force to push the X or Y axis by hand while powered up. This was working as designed and had no issues whatsoever with carvings. Now I replaced my stepper motors and I noticed that I can push my gantry with one finger and it moves easily…while powered up. Seems to cut OK but this is different from how it used to be. Now it makes me worry about possible controller issue and it wasn’t the stepper motors. Any thoughts are appreciated!! Thanks everyone.

Why’d you replace them?

What controller are you using?
Did you upgrade your firmware?

I replaced them after getting some “advice” from someone. Obviously not the best advice.

I using the old power supply and g shield.

I have updated the firmware to the latest.

Thanks for responding and any help you can provide.

Did you replace them because of this issue?
Can you post your GRBL settings?

Neil- Thanks for your help. You triggered something in my mind. My $1 was set to 0. I set it to 255 and all is well now. I have included my GRBL settings. Can you take a quick look and let me know if all looks well?

Thanks again for taking the time to help.

That’s where I was going…I don’t have an X-Carve (pretend expert), but nothing else jumps out at me.
