I made a quick video showing how I calibrated my Z-axis, along with the final result.
Basically the dial indicator is attached to my spindle mount via some threaded rod.
Very nice! You should throw that video into the troubleshooting/maintenance video thread too, it would be great to have a second method to attach the dial indicator in there.
I will do another example with the stock Inventables Dewalt mount in a few weeks.
I am amazed how simple it worked, and how accurate the final result was.
FYI For anyone wondering, the mount is Targ’s (from the ShapeOko forums) Makita mount design.
