Z axis cutting to deep

My Easel is set to cut .3 yet X-Carve is cutting .7, using a 1/32 bit. (its cutting deeper no matter what size bit I use).
I upgraded to the new X-Carve Z axis and change the machine settings accordingly.
Plus, I tested the movement on X,Y and Z axis by setting the Jogging to 1 inch then measured it and it was fine. I did notice that on the first cut, the plunge goes deeper then what is allowed on the Depth Per Pass. I am basically compensating for this by adjusting my easel depth of cut. Any thoughts on this?

You might want to check for a loose bolts holding the Z axis, the motor coupling hex screws, and re check the steps per mm on the Z axis with an accurate rule. Lastly make sure your collet is tight and that the bit isn’t slipping. These guesses are based on things that have happened to me.

Thanks, I will give it a try.

are you setting Z zero directly atop the area you are cutting into?
Like right on top of the carve area and NOT off at the front left corner??

Also, have you used the CNC to surface the workpiece??

and there’s this too…
