Here we go again: Totally f****d tollerances

I started to use straight flute bit, and the technician at the CMT center said that those bit are 6mm, but of course cost me nothing to check.

By they way, I don’t talk of little gap, I talk about a couple of mm on a pocket! Is like the machine cut 2 different drawing

Is pretty much .7mm (that is absurd for my needing), but how can be possible that the bit is .35mm smaller and the channel is 6mm? The bit is new, bought on Monday and cutted one time

And the cut?

Mmm 99.9% impossible, I never use on path cut, unless I have to make centerline but I use a 0.48mm bit and the command is ‘engraving’ on RhinoCAM

Can i ask what is your belt tension?

2.1kg pretty much? I have them at the double…? Or little less below 4kg, for sure! Maybe is too much?

V-Wheels is for sure ok, I check them after every cut, is something that I enjoy to do.

Used the same procedure to do my currect calibration and on every kind of distance (short or long) the machine is accurate. Maybe the vibrations have moved the tiny pot for the current setting?

The very last thing that come in mind is that there’s something wrong with the post, but I have downloaded it from Rhinoceros website

Can you post the gcode for a pocket or even the test you did with the square and circle? Take point A and point B and see how much the Gcode says to move. Add in the bit and you’ll get what it should be cutting.

I think I need new belt for this

I just drawed a square into a square, profilng for the big and pocketing for the small one. The bit I selected is a 6mm one, setted at 6mm as the CMT technician suggested me (I’ll try tomorrow to measure a channel, too late now)

I can also run Mach3mm but then the machine does not return to zero

Have ‘tried’ it just one time when I forgot to switch the post, but as the machine hasn’t returned to zero I have redone the work.

RhinoCAM machine preferences.

I see, very little differences. What do you suggest me? Apart to lower the tension of the belt and import the measurement from the channel cut.

Got it. Tomorrow I’ll lower the belt tension if I can then re-calibrate and make some test in both programs

Maybe a big guess but…could be UGCS the problem? I’m having some small trouble with it in the last month
