One of the things you can do if your raster image has to much detail is increase the tolerance for your bitmap trace. This will have the effect of smoothing edges without losing all of the detail. Just watch your corners.

Here was a basic but fun Christmas carve. Came out better than expected with the paint job…the vbit made a big difference with the dimension. Let’s just say I have a pretty happy nephew now and a backlog of friends and family who want one now.
